4 Star Hotels in Naples

Grand Hotel Capodimonte is immersed in the marvellous Capodimonte hill, an enchanting place for its history and culture which is set in the heart of the ancient Naples. The Hotel was once a nunnery where the “stimmatine” nuns lived. It was also known as “delle morette” since it sheltered some little girls who were delivered from slavery in the Holy Land

The large windows give onto, from one side, the monumental stair and the historic fountain which, set in the romantic park designed in 1836 by the architect and scenographer of Reale Teatro San Carlo, Antonio Niccolini, has also been made famous by the celebrated song “Munastero e’Santa Chiara”. Another scenery shows the so called “Tondo di Capodimonte” made by the architect Bartolomeo Grasso and located at the end of a straight road, Corso Napoleone, built during the French decade, (today named corso Amedeo di Savoia Duca D’Aosta). Nearby you see the Basilica dell’Incoronata Madre del Buon Consiglio which imitates in small scale the Basilica Vaticana and the famous Fontana della Regina Elena di Savoia

It was founded on 10 May 1859 during the last year of Bourbon domination. Turned into a four stars hotel, it has kept today the old architectural structure of the past. Entering the old main gate, you quickly get to the hall where time seems to have stopped 150 years ago. In just a few steps you see the breathtaking scenery of the old court that is illuminated by a wonderful skylight and enriched with some heavenly ample – sized rooms, once meant for the nuns of the convent.

The Grand Hotel Capodimonte is located in a privileged area from where you can easily reach historical and cultural sites such as the sumptuous Museo di Capodimonte, the richest museum in Italy for the quality and quantity of its works of art, the Bosco Reale, the Museo Archeologico di Napoli which is famous all over the world, the picturesque Catacombe di San Gennaro and the Astronomical Observatory of Capodimonte. These places are the best expression of Neapolitan culture and allow you to live an unforgettable stay in a dreamlike
